Our Approach to Test Preparation Is More Than Academic
Standardized tests do not mean standardized strategies. We believe that each student is unique; our teachers are trained to maximize a student’s strengths and minimize any barriers to learning. We have a unique ability to evaluate your student’s difficulties and develop the appropriate program.
While we do offer opportunities for full practice tests, practice without effective instruction will not increase scores. Our tutors guide each student through the testing process, integrating strategies that enable them to perform well under timed conditions and maximize their potential. Typically our students increase their ACT score by an average of 3 – 5 composite points.
Academic Tutoring Centers utilizes officially retired ACT exams along with our own, nationally renowned ACT SUCCESS and Barron’s 6 ACT Practice Tests textbooks to prepare its students for this high stakes test.
Co-authored by the Center’s owners, Jim Giovannini and Patsy Prince, with the help of their tutors, these textbooks prepare students by first teaching them the strategies needed for success on each exam section. Then, an individual approach is implemented based on the student’s strengths and weaknesses. Full-length practice tests are used, so students can refine these skills to become confident test-takers.
Our proven strategies reduce test anxiety while creating maximum score improvement.
The majority of our ACT test prep is conducted on a one-to-one basis. During certain times of the year we also offer small group preparation. If your child attends one of our partner high schools, they will also have the opportunity to take our ACT SUCCESS course at school.
