Gather supplies such as your ID, SAT confirmation slip, sharpened pencils, erasers, watch, and calculator. **Be sure to check the SAT web site for info on approved calculators, time keeping devices, IDs, etc**
Check the batteries in your calculator to be sure that they are new enough that they don’t run out during the test.
Pack a light lunch/snack for the break tomorrow. Your body and brain will need to refuel for the last half of the testing day.
If you are taking the test at a location other than your school, be sure that you know how to get there and where to park.
Do NOT do a new practice test: if you are having an “off night”, it may affect your confidence.
If you feel the need to study, review the rules and strategies from SAT SUCCESS as well as any notes you may have taken and any errors from your practice tests.
Do not drastically alter your habits. For example, do not force yourself to go to bed at 8:30 pm when you usually don’t go to bed until 11 pm. If you do it will most likely cause anxiety rather than leaving you well rested.
If you choose to go out, take responsibility for your own transportation to alleviate the stress this would cause if you were relying on friends to take you home.
The Day Before the SAT
Dress comfortably and in layers. Testing sites can be notoriously too cold or too hot.
Eat your usual breakfast. If you are not typically a breakfast eater, just remember that you will have only one 10 minute break approximately 2 hours after the test begins, so eating breakfast is extremely important.
Leave in plenty of time to arrive at the test site early. You may run into unexpected travel delays or have to find a room in an unknown location.
During the test, if you feel as if you have done poorly on a section, put it behind you and move on confidently!Your composite score is determined by taking an average of all four multiple choice sections. A lower score on one section can be balanced out by higher scores on the other sections.
Because you have prepared using SAT SUCCESS, you know how to take this test and can adapt to any questions asked. When you open your test booklet, it may seem as if the questions are more difficult than those you have practiced. Just start using your strategies and you will soon realize that you have all of the tools that you need achieve your personal A+ on the SAT.
